Mlb - Analyzing the Nl All-Star Starters

The rosters for the Mlb All-Star game were recently announced and the squads are filled with players that make fans want to buy Mlb tickets. Here I analyze the starting lineup selections for the National League. Note: All statistics are as of July 8th.

Catcher - Geovany Soto, Chicago Cubs: It's hard to deny Russell Martin the starting spot here because he's hitting .300 and has nine stolen bases, but Soto has blasted 15 home runs on one of the best teams in baseball. I still probably would have gone with Martin, but I don't have a question with the selection here.

Baseball

First Base - Lance Berkman, Houston Astros: This guy is having a season for the ages. If Chipper Jones' batting median fades, we could be looking at a Triple Crown winner here. Albert Pujols and Adrian Gonzalez are having great years, but nobody can compete with Berkman at this point.

Second Base - Chase Utley, Philadelphia Phillies: Dan Uggla is having a phenomenal year, but Utley's is just a itsybitsy better. He's leading the majors in home runs, thinkable, for a second baseman.

Shortstop - Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins: Hanley is one of the best young players in baseball and will push for 40-40 this year. He's a no-brainer here and should be for the next 10 years. He may be the only player on the Marlins that can sell Mlb tickets in Miami.

Third Base - Chipper Jones, Atlanta Braves: He's hitting .384, need I say more?

Outfield - Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers: Braun is proving that he's not just a one-year wonder. It looks like he's established himself as one of the premiere home run hitters in the game in just one year in the bigs.

Outfield - Kosuke Fukudome, Chicago Cubs: He's having a solid rookie season but there's no way he deserves to be starting. Matt Holiday is hitting .345 and Pat Burrell, who somehow didn't even make the roster, has more than 20 bombs and is just raking.

Outfield - Alfonso Soriano: Soriano is one of the premiere players in the league, but he doesn't deserve to start either. The two guys I mentioned above are much more worthy of a starting spot. This was a prestige pick.

These guys all deserve to make the All-Star squad and often have baseball fans clamoring for Mlb tickets.
