Using Your Stats to growth behalf

You don't need to be an athlete or even an avid sports fan to understand the value of statistics and the role they play in improving performance and results. Baseball is probably the most notorious for the number of statistics it tracks - roughly to the point of being ridiculous - "this batter is 0 for 18 when he comes to the plate after a guy named Mike against a pitcher born in a month with a "B" in it."

While all this tracking and measuring can appear extreme at times, it is in effect very essential for managing outcomes.

Baseball

When you're studying a skill, your actions are very deliberate. You have to think about everything you are doing, every move you are making. Over time, your movements become habits, meaning you don't have to think about them any more. They become automated or subconscious. This can be both good and bad.

Tracking allows you to see patterns and adjust them so you can get predictable results. This is important stuff to know regardless of either the results are going in effect well or not so well. Here's why:

If you like the results that you're getting, wouldn't it be beneficial to know what you are doing right so you can keep on doing it? Conversely, if you don't like the results you're getting, how can you know what to change if you don't have historical data? You'll have no choice but to make random changes with crossed fingers and hope for the best.

Before you can use stats to get best results, you need to be clear about what results you want.

Let's use Sal as an example. Sal works with clients in her business. She works with them in groups and one-on-one. Sal wants to increase the number of one-on-one clients she currently has.

She could take a shotgun coming and spray marketing, advertising and public relations dollars all over the place. This might get her a client or two, but she'll have issue identifying just what worked to get them and that will make it in effect difficult for her to repeat the results without plainly reloading the shotgun!

Instead, Sal decides to take more of a rifle coming and starts by evaluating where she is so she can plot a procedure for where she wants to wind up by using a process like this:

Q. How many one-on-one clients do I have now?

A. Ten, and I'd like to have 15.

Q. What is the actual dollar number that I earn from them each month?

A. 00, so five more clients will bring me to 00 (by the way, it looks like Sal is Way undercharging for her services, but we'll address that an additional one time).

Q. When I meet with prospects, how often do they become clients?

A. 50% of the time.

So now it becomes a math problem. If Sal boards a train heading West - er, uh, I mean - if Sal wants five more clients and she can change a hope into a client 50% of the time, then she needs to meet with ten prospects to accomplish her goal!

And that, my friends, is just one example of how knowing your stats can help you grow your business. Did you consideration that there were no industrialized physics used for this kind of analysis. All that was needed were base sense, easy math and some basic tracking of company activity. All this and an excel spreadsheet can get you where you want to be!

One last point: Tiger Woods still has a coach. There can be mountainous value in the perspective you get from man on the outside. Sometimes a itsybitsy adjustment can make a big disagreement in your game and you may be too close to the action to see what needs to be changed. Just like Tiger, one of the best things you can do to heighten your swing is get help from an devotee while you keep swinging!

In Honor Of Jimmy

It was last night as I was feeling tired and ready to go to bed that I turned on the Tv and saw a most provocative documentary on Espn superior concerning a man whom I remember well from my time in America. The man's real name being "Dimetrios Georgios Synodinos" though he was and probably is still good known as Jimmy "The Greek". In writing this any way I must confess that Jimmy "The Greek" was a man who in all frankness, I at first did not like very much if at all. This due to his personality and his approximately never picking the teams I wanted to win yet with time I did learn to appreciate his understanding in to the sports he talked about and I can even in effect say; that him as a someone as well.

Jimmy being a man who in effect looked deeply in to the sports he covered and gave reasons based on knowledge of the game as opposed to just saying that a team was favor to win because they were good and leaving it at that. Jimmy production it apparent that he understood sports and knew about the players who played the game and though I did not all the time agree with his predictions; I could see his logic which was all the time clear as to why he had picked one team over another. Jimmy's logic being the one I all the time followed along with what he had said about both teams even if at the end of it all, I sometimes though not that often; saw things differently than he did.

Baseball

Of procedure like with any sport, one never in effect knows with a 100% certainty before hand whose going to win but I would say that Jimmy "The Greek" allowed me to see a lot about American football straight through his analyzing the games that he talked about in a way which I found not only educational but fascinating. This due to the way, he did not tend to over simplify things but could tell in a manner which was clear and to the point; what were a team's strengths and weaknesses. Thus telling what features teams had that would help them win a game while not leaving out those which perhaps could be taken benefit of by the other team and all the time I might add without prejudice but rather with impartiality. Jimmy of procedure never forgetting what strengths a weaker team had that might win the game for them. I, for my part must even say that my articles connected to football (of the kind played in South America and Europe) are very much influenced by Jimmy the Greek's style of analyzing a game, as well as both teams from all angles and picking the team he felt was more likely to win which of procedure like in life; is not all the time the way it goes. I for instance picking correctly on many of last year's world cup matches though I frankly speaking did not see Spain winning the world cup though I never ruled it out as a possibility.

Looking back on it, I can say that Jimmy "The Greek" was the one who taught me how not to be emotional when picking which team to bet on. This meaning that though my sympathies may lye with one team, I should bet on the team which was the strongest even if they were not necessarily the team I wanted to win. Of course, it was also from Jimmy "The Greek" that I learnt that no matter how favorite a team was or how much I believed or wanted them to win; it was far from being a guarantee that they would win.

As for my relationship with the variety of football I call "American football" (I being one to connect the word "football" with what I grew up in Italy), it started back in 1978 when I saw a film about the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders which I in effect did not pay much attentiveness to apart from its being on Tv and having something to do with the sport of football. Football being something which I in effect knew nothing about at the time, not even the rules nor the object of the game. Of procedure having been born in America and lived there for sometime, I knew that it was a sport played with colorful helmets; where big guys tackled each other in order to get at a very oddly shaped ball. This pretty much being the extent of my knowledge concerning American football apart from a player whose name was O.J. Simpson; who I only knew from a drawing a school mate of mine made of him for a drawing contest we both entered. I not even being fully aware of what exactly it was that Simpson did on the football field.

It was any way this "cheerleader" film which my sister was watching at the time which let me see that there was a football team in the States called the "Dallas Cowboys". It being that very year that both my sisters and my brothers-in-law got together to watch the Super Bowl between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburg Steelers. This a game which the Dallas Cowboys in fact lost by 35-31 but did administrate to come back after trailing 35-17 to at least make the game interesting. I even remember the enthusiasm, my Spanish brother-in-law felt as he watched the game though for my part; I did not even watch a second of the game but did listen to his occasional narrative on how things were going. This while I worked on a book narrative for school in the next room.

I, for what implicated me was 11 years old at the time and basically only enjoyed the game of European football (which for some strange guess in America was known as soccer) which I played and watched on television. European football being not only the only sport I knew whatever about but played which prompted me to want to buy myself a pair of shoes for playing it. This being a coincidence that both sports apart from having the same name or at least as far I was concerned; also used the same type of footwear. This being something I found out about when I went to buy football shoes and the salesman tried to sell me a pair which he said were worn by some guy named "Roger Staubach"; whom I in effect had no idea who he was. It being at that occasion that the salesman gave me a very strange look and said if I knew about the super bowl which I told him that the Steelers had won it by 35-31. The salesman any way wanting to make a sale asked if I knew who had lost in the super bowl to which I said "Yes, the Dallas Cowboys" to which he said well "Staubach" plays for the Cowboys. Of procedure to me this meant in effect nothing as I can fantasize what it would have meant to him if I had told him who Kempes or Rossi was. The shoes did look and feel good and above all were not high-priced which made me buy them even if they were not made to play the sort of football which I wanted them for though I could not see any dissimilarity between these and those which were. I had also learnt who Roger Staubach was which for some guess stuck in my mind.

The summer came and the summer went and I must say that the football shoes I bought turned out to be very good for the kind of football which is played in Europe. I being able to play well with them and operate the ball as well as with any other and after some time I even forget that they were not made specially for the sport I was using them for. It was any way as can be predicted after the summer that the fall came along with Thanksgiving which we spent at my sister's house. All was as it all the time had been yet for some guess the television set was on a football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Oilers. Of procedure if I knew very minuscule about the Cowboys apart from their name and that they had cheerleaders; I knew even less about the Houston Oilers. Of course, I did form out that they too were from Texas given their name but apart from that, I in effect knew nothing about them yet I started watching the game to at least try to form out what the aim of the game was. This apart from not having whatever else to do or watch.

As it, at first naturally appeared to be a bunch of big men naturally trying to jump on top of the one who was carrying this strange looking ball which I even remember having once as a small child but did not know exactly what one was supposed to do with it. It any way was after a few minutes that I figured out for myself that there was point to everything they did or perhaps like Shakespeare said "a recipe to the madness". The aim of the game clearly being to go down the field by whether passing the ball or running it and in to the other team's end zone for touchdowns which were worth six point after which an extra point made it seven. There being the possibility that if one did not get a touchdown; one could get a field goal which was worth three points.

It also did not take me long to pick up on certain expressions such as 1st and 10 or 2nd and whatever along with other details of the game yet I as a stranger to the game; also noticed other things many Americans perhaps had never in effect stopped to think about. The first of these being why they called it "football" in the first place. This being a sport where the kicking part of the game was clearly not as important as the part one did with one's hands; such as throwing or catching or running the ball. In fact, most of the play provocative the use of the hands rather than the feet with the kicking part only comprising at most 5 % of the game in whether punts, kick-offs, extra points or field goals yet the sport was called football. This like the game I grew with in Europe though it did not involve the use of the feet as much yet regardless of guess such was this sport called.

Another thing I noticed was that this was a game that to a certain extent was unfair to some of the players; who in effect never got to touch the ball while the game. This being the case with those who played on defense as they approximately never got to touch the ball while those on the obnoxious line, in fact never did touch the ball; unless they picked it up after somebody fumbled it. Of procedure in European football not everyone got equal time with the ball but at least every player got to touch the ball at some point while the game.

I must say that I can not claim to have particularly liked the game or disliked it but it was much more provocative than I had previously belief and a lot less boring than baseball. I also wanted to see if Staubach (a most odd name which I had never heard before or since) was as good as the man who sold me my football shoes had told me he was; not that that was even the guess I bought them. Of course, I also wanted to see the Cowboys play because I had seen a film about their cheerleaders.

Another guess for my wanting to see a game of "American football" was that I did know it to be a very favorite sport or at least in America which did make me provocative to see what it was all about. This so when I heard talk about the sport or references to it; I would at least understand what was being discussed. As for the game, it started with Roger Staubach throwing a long touchdown pass which put his team up by 7-0. This being a most impressive play in the way he managed to be so spoton with his pass yet I soon saw that it was the way most quarterbacks threw the ball.

It any way was on the next play that something happened which I do not think I will ever forget. It was a player by the name of Earl Campbell who though not nearly as big as some of the other players on the field managed to run over 50 yards or so for a touchdown of his own. It in effect being overwhelming the way he managed to get by so many players with force yet with a will and measurement to contain speed as well as the ability to find open spaces between Cowboy players. All of which were also fast and trying to do what ever they could to bring him down. Staubach had been impressive but not as much as Earl Campbell, who naturally seemed to be an unstoppable force of nature in one singular player. Earl Campbell being very competitive on the field yet when showed on the sideline appeared to be amiable and likeable as he waved to the audience.

The game was provocative and as it continued, the same thing (or at least according to my memory) repeated itself right away. Roger Staubach threw other long length touchdown pass and Early Campbell ran for an even longer touchdown to tie up the score at 14 a piece. I must admit that before this game, I did not have the slightest clue as to who Earl Campbell was yet it was while this singular Thanksgiving day game that he in effect impressed me. As for the game, the Oilers would go on to win it which is the way I hoped it would end yet apart from this; I can say this was the first football game I ever saw.

In all this I would also find out on that day that it was a tradition for the Cowboys and Lions to play on every thanksgiving day. This seeming strange to me and still is that a national Holiday which has nothing to do with football; would be reserved exclusively for two teams to play on but that is the way it was and probably still is.

The following day after truly enjoying the game though more because of Earl Campbell than whatever else; I bought a copy of the New York Post to read about the game I had seen. It being written that the game had in effect been a match-up not so much between two teams but two players. These players being Campbell and Staubach with Campbell having come out on top. It any way was after having read about the game which had been that I decided to read about upcoming games.

This being the first time, I saw what I would eventually find out was a spread sheet of which teams were the favorites and the underdogs and by how many points. I, naturally understood what a favorite as opposed to an underdog was yet I was clueless to that the number between the teams was which was marked as points and what purpose if any did it have. I any way intrigued by what I saw asked my father, who in effect tended to bet on football games and basketball what that number was. My father explaining to me that if a team was favorite by 7 points, then they had to win by 8 points or more for those who bet on them to win and if they won by 7, then it was as if the game had ended in a draw and if they won by 6 points or less or lost; then those who bet on that team had lost their wager.

This seeming like an overwhelming theory in effect though it was inspired by the fact that in dissimilarity to the football I grew up with, American football along with basketball could make one team a favorite to win by as many as 18 or more points. This naturally being impossible with European football since matches commonly ended at 2-1 or 3-1 or scores of the sort; it being approximately never that a team won by a dissimilarity of 4 goals or more. This production sports like football and basketball ideal for betting on since with a good point spread some might risk betting on a team which approximately stood no chance of winning yet this did not matter to the someone betting on them. This given how all he or she needed was for that team to lose by less points than the spread to win the bet.

My father any way telling in this conversation that there was some guy who was called Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder who set such odds for gamblers to follow. My father telling me that Jimmy "The Greek" was the man who in America not only decided who was favorite but by how much yet not only in American football but in most sports played in America such as baseball, boxing, hockey, basketball and most importantly or at least as far as my father was concerned; horse racing. My father telling me that the Greek's tips had made him a lot of money with the way he was able to analyze things in dept and logic which was never based on emotion but reason. This so typical of other great Greeks who had given the world logic itself.

It was at this point that I became very much concerned in not only football but Jimmy "The Greek". I even looking out that he in fact was Greek as his real name was "Dimetrios Georgios Synodinos" which was just about as Greek as one could get. Dimetrios's house arrival from the Greek island of Chios in the Aegean Sea yet what concerned me more was how he was able to with so much accuracy manufacture the guidelines on who was the favorite and by how much. This even production me provocative about sports wagering which I would go on to do on American football games as often as possible. It being fun as well as at times profitable to bet on games and it did not take long for me to find a bookie whose minimum bet was only ten dollars and who only took a 50 cent commission but that is other matter.

The weekend after Thanksgiving came and I woke up extra early to watch the Nfl on Cbs and who should I see predicating the games but Jimmy "The Greek". The Nfl today being a pre-game show full of data concerning the upcoming games of the day. This show perhaps not being so provocative with people, who seemed to lack whatever concerning personality or charisma yet at least it was informative. naturally Jimmy "the Greek" being the one who did not just limit himself to talking about what happened but analyzing why and how.

As for the other people on the show, I remember a woman by the name of Phyllis George; who was clearly an Anglo Saxon in not having any facial features to make her provocative or even provocative for that matter yet she had been Miss America. This perhaps being her only qualification to be on the show apart from representing the typical housewife, who so much wants to watch sports with her husband and children but for the most part knows nothing about what she is watching; apart from who wins or loses. Phyllis George also lacking in the personality group which would have made her at least provocative to watch even if she did very minuscule apart from introducing the show, reading the scores and according with everybody.

I also remember other stiff bore on "The Nfl Today" by the name of Brent Musburger, whom I referred to as "Mouseburger" given his lack of personality or whatever which even remotely resembled wit or knowledge concerning the sports he covered. "Mouseberger" seeming like somebody who had no belief of his own and waited to hear what others were saying so he could go along with them. This perhaps being the guess he had gotten on the show apart from perhaps having that typically Anglo Saxon shyness about him which at least does not disturb. It being Mouseberger, who several years later took benefit of Jimmy "The Greek's" extraction over so called "racist statements" to make several not only untrue but unfair comments about the man he had once worked with. There was also other man on this pre-game show whose name was Irv Cross, who seemed pleasant adequate and in effect knew something about the sport he covered though perhaps was on the show more for the studio not to appear racist than whatever else.

Jimmy "The Greek" being the one who explained everything and seemed to know everything. The Greek being typical of the expression "I may not all the time be right but I am never wrong". As it was from him that I learnt how so much of what one sees on the field of play is influenced by that which one approximately never sees on it but has just as much significance as what one in effect does. It being this highlight about him which I must admit to not liking at first but eventually getting used to and even learning to appreciate.

I also remember that singular Sunday as being the first one I spent watching football games yet was very much disappointed to find out that I would all the time have to watch the Jets and the Giants. This due to their being the local teams and Cbs and Nbc having an compulsion to broadcast their games when ever they played on Sundays. As for the games, I must say that I did find them provocative and even enjoyed watching them though what I in effect liked most of all was getting the results of other games and even looking the touchdowns as they came.

The game was not so bad though I would have adored to watch other teams besides the Jets and Giants yet what I in effect could not stand was a certain loud mouth commentator by the name of John Madden. This a man who for some guess felt the need to make his own sound effects when ever he described plays by shouting "wham" or "pow" in a similar fashion of the Batman serial of the late sixties. John Madden, a man who apart from being loud and obnoxious had a tendency to constantly repeat "this player is mental this or that" as if he could perhaps know the thoughts of a player on the field. I also looking that John Madden was stubborn adequate to have a play repeated as many times as it took for him to make a point which he was commonly wrong about anyway.

It was also on that Sunday that I saw football on Nbc and in effect enjoyed it more than I did on Cbs. Nbc commentators like Bryant Gumbel having infinitely more provocative personalities than what I called the "sticks in the mud" on Cbs with Jimmy "The Greek" being the sole exception. All of which production me wish that Jimmy "The Greek" could be on Nbc which would have made them the exquisite middle point yet unfortunately that was not the case.

With time and after looking a lot more games in the next few season's, I started liking other players such as Jim Plunket, Vince Ferragamo, Ron Jaworski, John Elway, Mark Gastineau and a few others; whose names fly me at the moment. I any way despite liking some players, I must say that my favorites undoubtedly were Joe Montana and Earl Campbell though perhaps more Campbell than Montana. Earl Campbell in a strange way reminding me of the great forces leader, Hannibal. It being Campbell, who like Hannibal had broad ability and talent yet at the end did not win the big one naturally because he was on a side which given its frailness was bound to lose. It being Hannibal who at the end was defeated by Rome in the same way in which Earl Campbell never went on to play in the super bowl; much less win it.

Looking back on football, I can say it was a sport which I did not in effect like all that much or at least not as much the football I grew with in South America and Europe yet I did like certain personel players which made the game worth watching. It being a case that when those players retired I lost interest in the sport like I also lost interest in basketball when Bird retired or in recipe one after Ayrton Senna died.

As for Jimmy "The Greek" I did continue to follow his guidance when ever placing a bet on whether a football game or pugilistic event and though I did not all the time agree with his choice of winner; I could see his mental as being sound. This despite my not all the time looking eye to eye with the Greek on the eventual outcome. I even remember a certain Mr. Fuji saying that Jimmy "The Greek" had picked Piper to beat Hulk Hogan in a wrestling match which did seem most odd yet it shows how big his popularity.

Slipcovers - A manufacture a Day

Are you old enough to remember the 1950s, when population covered their furniture in plastic or vinyl in order to keep it clean? Oh, it kept the furniture clean, all right, but it also looked horrible and was uncomfortable to sit on.

The beat way to safe your furniture is to use a slipcover - a loose cover of cloth that fits over your furniture to safe it, but which can be decorated in assorted styles so that it looks pleasant on its own. Thus, it serves two purposes and that makes it prudent as well!

Baseball

You don't need to use slipcovers just on brand-new furniture, of course. If you have a chair with worn-out cushion but which is still comfortable to sit on, there may be no need to re-upholster it. Naturally buy - or make - an thorough slipcover and put that on. You can also use slip covers if you rule to redo the color of your walls and want to make sure the furniture matches the new color. That's cheaper than buying new furniture!

Where to buy slipcovers

Usually, they are settled in the same area of the store as the linens.

Slipcover designs Don't get the idea that slipcovers come in plain white or solid covers and won't look attractive. There are as many designs on slipcovers as there are on any type of furniture, from floral designs to geometric, from plaids to solids, to themes such as baseballs or other sports. The fabric that is used varies as well, from cotton to damask, from denim to suede, from leather to tapestry!

With that much sophistication, there's no need to hesitate about buying a selection of slipcovers so that you can convert the look of your furniture on the spur of the occasion if you so desire.

Ready made vs hand made It's easy for fabric slip covers to be made in confident generic sizes, so that they'll fit a wide collection of chairs, couches, futons, etc. But it's also potential to get slip covers custom-made. Indeed, if you're talented with a needle yourself, you can make your own slipcovers.

Slipcovers aren't just for chairs, by the way, you can also get them for a collection of beds as well.

Prices Depending on the type of fabric you use, the prices are quite reasonable, from up to 0. Shop around the web as well as at your local home furnishing store to find the best prices for you.

About Louisville Slugger
In many ways, the rich 120-year history of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat began in the talented hands of 17-year-old John A. "Bud" Hillerich. Bud's father, J.F. Hillerich, owned a woodworking shop in Louisville in the 1880s when Bud began working for him. Legend has it that Bud slipped away from work one afternoon in 1884 to watch the Louisville Eclipse, the town's major league team. After Pete Browning--the Eclipse's star who was mired in a hitting slump--broke his bat, Bud invited him to his father's shop to make a new one. With Browning at his side giving advice, Bud handcrafted a new bat from a long slab of wood. Browning got three hits using the bat the next day. Browning told his teammates, which began a surge of professional ballplayers visiting the Hillerich shop.

Although J.F. Hillerich had little interest in making bats, Bud persisted, eventually registering the name Louisville Slugger with the U.S. patent office in 1894. In the early 1900s, the company was one of the first to use a sports endorsement as a marketing strategy, paying Hall of Famer Honus Wagner to use his name on a bat. By 1923, Louisville Slugger was the selling more bats than any other bat maker in the country, with such famed clients as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Lou Gehrig. In the ensuing years, the company has sold more than 100 million bats, and 60 percent of all Major League players currently use Louisville Sluggers. The company now sells far more than bats, including fielding and batting gloves, helmets, catchers' gear, equipment bags, training aids, and accessories.

Louisville Slugger MLB180 Natural Wood Baseball Bat

Louisville Slugger MLB180 Natural Wood Baseball Bat Review

Louisville Slugger MLB180 Natural Wood Baseball Bat Feature

  • Durable ash wood bat with natural finish
  • Pro-grade ash is pound for pound the strongest timber available
  • Barrel tends to flex rather than break, creating larger sweet spot
  • Randomly selected turning model from C271, P72, C243, R161, T141, and K55
  • Available in 32-, 33-, and 34-inch lengths

Louisville Slugger MLB180 Natural Wood Baseball Bat Overview

The MLB 180 Baseball Bat from Louisville Slugger® will improve your batting skills with its durable wood design that will last after many games. Note: This bat comes in assorted autographs; autographs will vary.

Louisville Slugger MLB180 Natural Wood Baseball Bat Specifications

Don't make the mistake of thinking all wood bats are the same. They may look similar, but the quality of the wood is very different from one wood bat company to another. Louisville Slugger, however, sets itself apart from other bat makers with more than 120 years of bat-making experience, outstanding turning models, and access to the best-quality wood on the market. The MLB180 bat, for instance, is made of professional-grade ash, pound for pound the strongest timber available. Ash offers a flexibility that isn't found in other timbers, including maple, resulting in a barrel that tends to flex rather than break. This gives you a larger, more forgiving sweet spot in terms of breakage. In addition, ash is lighter than maple, so players can choose from among several large-barrel sizes. It all adds up to a terrific choice for casual players who love the look and feel of a genuine wood bat, or professionals who value a high-quality bat performance.

The MLB180 also boasts a randomly selected turning model, with such possibilities as C271, P72, C243, R161, T141, and K55.

Bat Specifications

  • Wood: Ash
  • Finish: Natural
  • Length: 32, 33, or 34 inches
  • Turning model: C271, P72, C243, R161, T141, or K55

Note: The biggest factors that influence the life of a wood bat are the quality of wood and where the ball hits your bat. Until you gain experience hitting with wood bats, however, don't be surprised if you break a lot of bats. Unlike with aluminum bats, when you hit a ball along the handle or at the end of a wood bat, you may break the bat rather than get a hit. It takes a lot of practice, but with work, you will find that you break fewer bats and become a much better hitter.

You Can Find added Great Wrestling Schools Than You Might imagine

When I ask the typical sporting activities fan to name some perfect wrestling schools, I invariably hear names like Iowa, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.

Whilst there's no doubt that these schools have a number of the strongest wrestling programs inside country, there are several other amazing wrestling schools that most men and women would whether by no means associate using the sport or have by no means heard of, period.

Baseball

Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, for instance, is often a small college that has one of the top 10 wrestling programs inside region on a normal basis. As a sports activities writer, I've covered two express champion high college wrestlers that signed with Lehigh, one of whom was nationally-ranked and had Olympic aspirations.

Cal Poly is yet an additional one example of one of those marvelous wrestling schools that not numerous folks consider when they talk about the sport. They're usually between the top 25 schools inside the region, and have many wrestlers regarded for being between the very best in their respective weight classes.

An supplementary college that ordinarily has several private wrestlers ranked amongst the elite agency I competitors inside the nation is Bucknell University.

Moving over to the Ivy League, Cornell is regarded as being a wrestling powerhouse, and also the marvelous issue about which is that the Ivy League is nothing else but not regarded that contentious amongst agency I colleges and universities in most from the major sports activities using the notable irregularity of hockey. Harvard and Penn have also produced some perfect wrestlers.

Edinboro (and no, I am not talking about Scotland) is a distinct wrestling college in Pennsylvania that produces a few of the very best wrestling talent inside the nation.

When most of us consider athletic talent inside talk about of Michigan, we imagine on the University of Michigan or Michigan State, proper? Not this year; the most sufficient with the wrestling schools from the Wolverine talk about this year is Central Michigan.

I've typically wondered why you see schools that have a number of the stronger wrestling programs within the region that you rarely hear about in other sporting activities, and I consider the answer is truly pretty straightforward. Some schools merely don't have the resources to create marvelous athletic programs in many sporting activities like the University of Texas, Florida, Usc, Lsu or Alabama, so they focus on one sport.

It is possible to see the same point in baseball with Pepperdine University or Wichita State, or in basketball with Duke University or Gonzaga.

You will contemplate numerous useful wrestling schools available that the quarterly sports activities fan has in no way heard of, or maybe had no idea that they were so marvelous inside sport. The significant factor, nevertheless, is that fans on the sport of wrestling and wrestlers themselves know about them, and you far better believe that wrestlers would look at it an honor and a privilege for being a part of those programs.

5 Ways to Get Blog Post Ideas

I recently asked a group of company women the following question: "What is stopping you from blogging?" several of them responded by saying that they were afraid that once they got started they wouldn't have sufficient facts to blog about. Not sufficient content!

What Can You Blog About?

Baseball

Actually I should start with the fact that I felt the same way a year or so ago before I started blogging. I posted my first blog on July 24, 2009 and I titled it "Scared" because, well, I was. I actually had no idea what I was going to blog about but the one thing I learned from the movie Julie & Julia was that you just need to pick something and start to blog.

So ask yourself this - Why do I want to blog?

Is it to generate prominent authority status for you or your company in your industry?

Is it to direct traffic to your website?

Is it to keep a log of your growing children?

Is it to keep a log of your elderly relatives?

Do you love recipes and want to share them with the world?

Do you just have stuff in your head that you want the world to know?

Once you know the why, the article will come. You know the line "build it and they will come." It doesn't just work for baseball fields. It works for blog article as well. The one thing I can tell you is that you have within your immediate grasp sufficient facts in your brain to write your first several blog posts. You can worry about the rest later.

5 Ways To Get Blog Ideas

1. Sit down with a piece of paper and start to write one, two or three word phrases that justify something you have done or know something about, just as they come to your mind.

If I did this at this very moment this is what I would write:

blog posts, pictures, what can I write, 10 small blog, brownies, laundry, WordPress, marketing, trucking, assistant, and I could go on and on. (Brownies because they are cooking in the kitchen and smelling fantastic!)

Ok, you get the idea. Just randomly write down things that you know anyone about. Then pick 5 of them that you would feel comfortable having a consulation about with a colleague - those are your blog post ideas!

2. Ask a query on public Media. Request questions on Twitter or Facebook can actually get you some great ideas. I once asked the members of my Facebook Fan Page "What is the 1 thing you actually need help with in your business?" I got some actually great answers which lead to 5 new narrative ideas.

3. Watch what other experts in your field are writing about. Are there singular subjects that are trending in your industry? For example right now in company there is a lot of talk about blogs. Yes, there could be many other population right now writing an narrative about what to write blogs about but none of those posts would be like this one. The fact that I am writing it makes it unique and distinct from the others.

4. Once you get started population will commentary on your blog and ask you questions. This will give you even more material for blog posts.

5. Remember that you do not have to write all of the blog posts yourself. There are lots of population in your industry that would love to be guest bloggers on your site as long as your site fits with their topic. If you look at my blog you will see lots of blogs from guest bloggers.

My friend and mentor Adam Urbanski has a saying "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly to begin with!" That means don't wait for perfection. It rarely comes!

Just get started. Write your first post about how scared you are, like I did. You can even call it Scared if you want to - I don't mind. I promise your post will be distinct than mine! Just take operation and move forward! Then drop me a line to let me know you did it!

Would you like to reprint this narrative for use in your blog or ezine? You may as long as you include this blurb in its entirety:

What Does A Website Cost?

First of all, let's get this out of the way... You need a website. Period.

And not just any ol' website, but a great website with clear, crisp professional, easy to navigate develop with superb user quality and functionality. Furthermore, you need a website that is just as easy for you to use administratively, as it is for your site visitors to use.

Baseball

It doesn't matter if you are a national corporate brand, a smaller brick and mortar with 'plenty of business', a brick and mortar with only local business, or an ice cream shop that only sells to citizen in the middle of 5'10 and 5'11 wearing baseball hats before 3 pm only... You still need a website! Your business can be broad or niche, it can be large or small, and despite what you may believe... You need a website!

Now, what does a website cost?

Like the businesses they represent, websites are not all created equal and serve various purposes, therefore they can vary greatly in cost as the level of develop and functionality increases and becomes more involved to suit your company's needs.

00 A basic designed website, acting primarily as an online brochure to merely develop a indispensable presence online to talk the questions 'do you exist?', 'are you professional?' and 'what do you do?', can be built for a mere store mean of 00. This website will not allow you to interact with your audience (social networking, blog), transact business directly through your site (ecommerce), or enable you to manipulate and modernize the pages and article within your site without hiring a web programmer/designer to do it for you(Content management theory does enable this for more $$$).

But the site will serve to help brand and store your company, showcase your products and services and inspire sales as a lead generating tool.

Unfortunately, the develop of your website will be template at such low costs. This means that your site probably mirrors that of other sites on the web with similar develop and structure.

These sites should be Css and Xhtml Coded to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer and will also be search motor Optimized (Seo) for greater natural search motor ranking success. But not all firms code the same and have Seo as a top priority. Also, web analytics should be provided with every site built to track and ensure your web success. So make sure to ask the right questions before hiring.

00-00 practice designed websites, with all the aesthetic attractiveness that you can perhaps envision, costs a store mean of 00. These sites are not very functional but are extraordinarily pretty and all develop elements are created and designed specifically for your site and tailored to your store needs. These sites will still not enable audience interactivity, ecommerce, or article management. The sites cost is all due to the estimate of hours it takes to generate attractiveness within the pages of your site.

The site will serve the same indispensable purposes that a basic designed website will but will be far more aesthetically pleasing and practice to your businesses desires.

Again, these sites should be Css and Xhtml Coded to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer and will also be search motor Optimized (Seo) for greater natural search motor ranking success. But not all firms code the same and have Seo as a top priority. Also, web analytics should be provided with every site to track and ensure your web success.

00- ,000 Depending on the level of aesthetic develop that is requested article management theory (Cms) websites will run at a store mean of ,000. These websites are created with both functionality and develop in mind, as you will receive both practice art develop and mid level functionality including the quality to administrate and modernize all content, images, and text contained within the pages of your site (infinite estimate of pages possible). With a Cms capable website, your site will have endless possibilities as a pluggable, flexible web application capable of adding supplementary features as you desire.

These websites are built with the idea that you will have a indispensable estimate of changes, additions or updates to be made to your site in the near future. Instead of being expensed hourly rates to make such changes, a Cms theory enables you to do a majority of the basic additions without prior coding or web designing knowledge.

Social interactivity with your site visitors is inherent with a site of this caliber, as a blog should be present within your site enabling you to place posts of article that you believe is relevant and desired by your audience. Your audience can pick to talk to your blog posts and each others comments allowing for 2 dimensional interaction in the middle of you, your audience, and within your audience.

Some ecommerce and real state listing sites can be created within this price range depending upon level of functionality and design.

Also, sites of this caliber have varying prices with regard to develop elements. These sites do have practice develop work, but more high-priced elements like Flash Art creation will work on pricing.

Again, these sites should be Css and Xhtml Coded to allow your site to look the same on nearly every computer and will also be search motor Optimized (Seo) for greater natural search motor ranking success. But not all firms code the same and have Seo as a top priority. Also, web analytics should be provided with every site built to track and ensure your web success.

,000- 0,000+ If you are seeing for advance functionality including collective networking, blogging, ecommerce, or any other web application topped off with the markets prominent develop elements, you should expect to pay a store mean of ,000! Like I said before, some ecommerce and web applicable sites can be created for less, while most thriving ventures are created for much more.

Sites that have fallen in this price range contain facebook.com, orkut.com, bestbuy.com, and wgcu.org to name only a few.

A site within this price range will be built and hand coded from scratch. That means your site is unlike any other and requires the concentration and expertise of an experienced web application developer(s) and web site designer(s). A site that falls into this category requires months of store analysis, software research, consulting, database develop and implementation, software development and integration, site quality insurance and testing. This is the mother load and it is priced accordingly.

I know what you are thinking, 'who knew it was so expensive?' And the only talk I can give is that web develop and creation is like any other craft or trade and requires a high level of knowledge and expertise. Furthermore, with the rapid rate that technology and the internet is permanently changing, the gap is starting to seriously widen in the middle of web amateurs and professionals. Can you still get a website for 0? Sure you can, but it will not display and control like a professionally designed website will and it will be as ineffective and unsuccessful as the individual who designed it.

Getting a Great Headshot

It's the simplest thing in the world but most actors get it wrong. And photographers get it wrong and ironically, many headshot photographers working specifically with actors get it wrong.

What's the secret?

Baseball

Nothing. Doing nothing. All you have to do is be yourself in front of a camera. Simple. And yet very difficult for most actors who are incredibly shy when it comes to being themselves. If they can't focus on being someone else character- something we all spend years learning to do as actors- then there's confusion, insecurity, fear and tension which makes for a lousy head shot. Adding to that is the dissatisfaction of most photographers I've met or worked with who don't know how to get an actor to Relax. So they say things like "Relax, chill, be more calm, stop biting your lip or squinting your eyes!" or "Relax your forehead-there are lines and wrinkles where you're frowning, lower your shoulders, breathe!" The list goes on. The result? An actor gets more self-conscious, upset, more nervous and more tense. It's a downward spiral. What to do?

Five Easy Steps To a Great Head shot

1- select a photographer that you feel comfortable with not the "trendy" hot guy to whom every actor goes. "Oh, if only I had a head shot with this top guy I would be successful, too!" No, not true. Good to work with an unknown photographer but someone who is able to capture you, someone with whom you can relax and have a great rapport. Ideally, find someone who is technically great and then bring along to the shoot your vocation coach/art director who can talk to you, focus you, keep you centered and real. Then, you can get absolutely great pictures!

2- Go over your "type" and range-the kind of roles in which you will be cast and play before you determine on the wardrobe. There's nothing worse than a generic headshot, one with an actor dressed in a boring white shirt or a black sweater with a phony smile. Know your roles: Doctor, Lawyer, Businessman, Fbi agent Spy, Mom, Dad? Dress it or recommend it. Wear your popular colors-solids are ordinarily Good than prints. someone else mistake? An actress wearing too much jewelry, make-up or choosing outfits that are more remarkable to a disco, a beach party, baseball game or just hanging out at a bar. That's Ok if that's what you're selling as your brand. If not, casting directors are confused about how to cast you or call you in for a role, so they don't! (Get the guidance of a vocation Coach if you don't know your type or what to wear).

3- account for fully or show the make-up artist and hair stylist exactly how you look every day. All too often a stylist will do your hair they way they see you not the way you normally look so you end up with photos that don't accurately recite you. This is especially true for women but may apply to men with longer hair that can be altered with mousse, spray, a curling iron. For women with curly hair-if that's how you look don't straighten your hair just for the headshot unless you want to do that everyday of your life henceforth. Casting Directors want to see the real you not how you "could be".

4- Bring a Cd or several with music you love. Originate your own "space" and place within the studio. Bring water or your popular juice, snack, food. Bring your popular photos of your pets, children, house or partner so you are reasoning about obvious images and memories. Focus on just being comfortable.

Then, take a half hour or even 15 minutes to sit still and just be- yourself. Don't arrive late and rush into a shoot with the stylist fussing, getting dressed, photographer clicking, lights blinking. All that creates tension. Relax before you sit in the chair or stool on which you will be photographed.

In my experience with over a dozen top headshot photographers in as many years, the best shots I ever obtained were taken by a photographer who was a part of a husband/wife team. He greeted you at the door and offered refreshments prominent you to a peaceful dressing room where you could unwind with soothing music. She sat and talked/laughed with you for a full half hour before you heard a click from her camera or saw a flash of light from the strobe. Of policy they knew lighting and were skilled in the art of photography but their success as a team was understanding the psychology of freedom and harmony for their actor clients. Brilliant!

5- Use your acting "technique" while you are being photographed. Think Fun thoughts (your subtext or inner monologue). Talk about your life. Tell a story about your house or your travels. Let the freedom of just talking show on your face. That's being You. Talk, tell a story and then let it go. Sit still and "glow" in the memory or the laughter. Then, you are giving the photographer something to capture. You. Your energy. Your joy of living. The joy of being You. And that makes a great head shot!
